Westport Ireland Wedding – Sunday Afternoon

Sunday, 24 August 2008 17:05 by uniqueweddings

What a fantastic day. Rachel & Robert's wedding was a great success with singing and dancing until 2am. I know my room was above the dance floor!

The day started with the girls getting ready in a picturesque cottage a short walk from the quayside. Then a horse drawn carriage to the church. The traffic is exceptionally busy in Westport so the bride arrived well before the bridesmaids!!!

After the service the weather had taken a turn for the worse pouring down with rain, so we photographed the family groups by the altar and headed straight off the Wyatt Hotel for the drinks reception.

Whilst Rachel & Robert enjoyed the wedding breakfast I was checking out the satellite weather images on the internet, hoping there would be a break in the rain after the speeches so we could visit the quayside for some photos.

Our luck was in and we were able to use my car for the short drive down the the quay for photos. I'd found a disused quay away from the boats with fantastic views across the bay. After quickly mopping up the puddles with a towel borrowed from the hotel we captured some awesome images, which I'm sure will be treasured in the years to come. Not only do they capture the beauty of West Coast of Ireland, but the dramatic light complimented Rachel's wedding gown beautifully.

A quick drive back to the hotel to kick off the evening with a live band and the first dance as Husband & Wife.

Everybody had a wonderful time. I met most of the guests on the flight back to Manchester and everybody was taking about it. I'm sure this will be a very memorable wedding for everybody.

Westport Ireland Wedding – Friday Evening

Friday, 22 August 2008 12:04 by uniqueweddings

Boarding the flight to Knock airport at 6.50am my thoughts were more about sleep than wedding photography. However, arriving in Westport on the Atlantic coast of Ireland I thought I was really dreaming.

What a beautiful place to get married. I'd travelled from Lancashire to photograph Rachel and Roberts wedding. The service was due to be held in St Mary's Church and the reception at the Wyatt hotel. This was sure the be a fabulous wedding.

As a wedding photographer we tend to be a bit obsessed with the weather, so checking the satellite images and forecast for tomorrow it looks like a wet and rainy day. Good job I packed a bag full of fast prime lenses. Rain or Shine I'll get some fantastic pictures for Rachel & Robert.

An early night tonight ready for the big day tomorrow...

Arley Hall Fashion Shoot

Tuesday, 19 August 2008 18:37 by uniqueweddings

arley hall fashion shoot

The weather provided a challenge on Monday's fashion shoot at Arley Hall.

Pouring rain and overcast skys threatened to put the damper on procedings, however, the super fast F 1:1.2 lenses in Glenn & Caroline's kit bags mean thay can continue shooting using natural light when most photographers have to resort to flash.

Whilst this is a technical advantage of investing in the very best kit, it is also a significant artistic advantage.

Natural light is so much more flattering, particularly for fashion and people photography. This is clearly demonstrated in picture shown.

Launch of Fantasy Weddings

Friday, 15 August 2008 20:13 by uniqueweddings

Last night saw Caroline photographing the launch of Fantasy Weddings in Cheshire.  A new bespoke wedding planning service, UniqueWeddings.co.uk is the recommended wedding photographer for discerning couples.

September sees the opening of their beautiful showroom.  Last night was the opening evening at the Belle Epoque restaurant, complete with living statues, jazz singer, saxophonist, 60 guests, pink champagne and of course, the lovely owner - Katherine!

The guests (and Caroline) had a wonderful evening and we're sure the business will go from strength to strength.  We very much look forward to working together.

Thornton Manor

Sunday, 10 August 2008 19:52 by uniqueweddings

This venue really is God's gift for interior photography! Built by Lord Lever in the early 1900s, it is the most amazing architecture and we love being here.

Today was no exception - the weather was lovely and all the guests were outside on the terrace and in the gardens enjoying their drinks. It really is a fabulous venue and my couple chose it simply because of the space inside and out.

For us, there were so many opportunities to take fantastic indoor photographs, that we can't wait to go back on a wet weather day!!

Same venue.....

Sunday, 3 August 2008 20:10 by uniqueweddings

Earlier this year, we discovered that we'd booked two weddings, both at the same venue on the same day!  The Last Drop Village often has up to four weddings a day across the hotel, and it was utterly amazing that both Glenn and I were there at the same time.

This has never happened to us before!  Both weddings were absolutely fantastic.  Glenn and I both helped each other during the breaks from our respective weddings and it was a lovely opportunity for us both to see each bride and their beautiful dresses on the day (not to forget the grooms of course!!).
